ADVANCED TOONS

An in-depth cartoon class for experienced artists.
1 & 3/4 hrs. Includes Open Studio Saturdays once each month.

Overview:
Advanced Toons is for artists who are ready to learn professional illustration and cartooning techniques. We will cover more in-depth anatomy for artists who are working on realistic styles, or for classic cartoonists, we'll look at the individual's repetoire of toon "vocabulary". Also, we'll begin working in color with various media.

  • 10-student limit in classroom with professional instructor.
  • Students participate in the Art Show in May.
  • A parent corner in the classroom is available.
  • Sibling play room is available if parent-monitored.
  • At the end of the year, there is a final commercial illustration project.

In-depth:
This class is for pre-teens and teens who have a passion for creating characters, stories, and cartoon illustrations. Both classic "funny" toons and human-based cartooning as you see in super-hero comics, anime and manga are supported, since each individual's style is encouraged.You can use the things you'll learn here in a professional career as an animator, a conceptual games and movie artist, a graphic novel artist, or just for fun.

Tuition: $855 for a 35-session curriculum.

Some class notes:

• Please wear old clothes if possible.
• Bring your supplies in some kind of bin or carrier to keep them organized
• There is no room at the academy for students to store supplies
• Always bring all of your supplies to class
• Brushes should be kept in something that will prevent their being bent.
