Taught by Scott Crain Scott Crain is the creative director and founder of Oracle Productions, an 11-year-old Nashville-based theater production company. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Memphis with a B.A. in Theater. The author of twenty plays and dozens of short scripts, Scott Crain has been writing, acting, and directing for the past 15 years. He also serves as the editor for "Drama Ministry," a publication of Belden Worship Resources. He can be contacted by writing to scott@oracleprodutions.org. TESTIMONIALS and ENDORSEMENTS "As a director, Scott Crain has a unique ability to allow actors to use their own creativity to shape their characters. He gives them a basic understanding, then allows them to grow as an actor by developing a character all their own. The atmosphere while working with Scott is very freeing and always fun." --Renee Lierow, Family Christian Academy and Cumberland University graduate, emphasis in theater; served as technical and assistant director and actor with Oracle Productions. "As an avid supporter of Nashville theater, I would say that Scott Crain's original works with Oracle Productions are of a similar caliber to the Nashville Shakespeare Company and the Nashville Children's Theater. His work is characterized by excellence, both on stage and off. His writing is intelligent and witty and his acting is captivating and natural. Rehearsals open and close with prayer and are filled with laughter. The level of professionalism that Scott carries as a director is rare. He and Oracle Productions are truly a Nashville treasure." --Lori Todd, Austin Peay State University graduate, emphasis in communication arts; homeschool mom and occasional actor with Oracle Productions for the past seven years. "Scott Crain consistently demonstrates his expertise in every aspect of his craft. A sincere man of God, his candor and care furnish performers with clear direction and sound acting principles. For the past five years, I have seen Scott foster new talent and refine seasoned performers on a consistent basis, maintaining a constructive, Christ-centered environment. My learning experiences under Scott Crain have equipped me with a comprehensive knowledge of acting techniques and a greater awareness of overall stagecraft concerns." --Ryan Rehnborg, homeschooled through high school, graduate of The Academy (formerly Whitver), studying performance arts at MTSU. "I hate Scott Crain. He is an indulgent actor with a bad French accent and should never step on stage ever again." -- Elisabeth Garcia, Lighthouse Christian Academy and MTSU graduate, French major; served as stage manager, assistant stage manager, light board operator, and actor with Oracle Productions, "friend" to Scott Crain for 15 years. And a special note from Abbie Ebensberger, who was homeschooled through high school, graduated from The Academy (formerly Whitver) and is now studying philosophy at Union University: I have had the privilege to be a part of several Oracle shows over the past several years, so I have witnessed firsthand Scott's remarkable talent as playwright, actor, and director. Scott does excellent work, he loves doing it, and he does it all for the glory of God. For those reasons, it is a joy to work with him and with Oracle! Scott is able to direct, encourage, and instruct in a way that is constructive and very helpful. As a director, he offers assistance with things like character building and expression, without hindering actors from finding their personal interpretation of their character. He is skillful at helping coax an actor's best out of them. I would absolutely recommend taking acting classes from him. You will learn and grow in a setting that is safe for you as an artist to take risks and try new things. My family was also neighbors with Scott for about six years, and I babysat his kids quite a bit, so I got to know Scott and his family in a setting outside of the theatre as well. He and his wife Laura and their two sons are precious people, and I am so thankful I've gotten to know them. Take his acting classes! You won't regret it! |
